Digital Desk: Delhi high court (HC) on Thursday has rejected the plea regarding UPSC Mains 2021 examination. Delhi HC stated that it would not intrude on the examination process.
As many as 19 candidates appearing for the exams reached the court for the postponement mentioning a looming threat of getting infected and losing a valuable attempt to clear it. Some candidates argued that it was their last shot to appear in the examination.
“I am not inclined to interfere with the decision. Therefore, I am dismissing the petition,” stated Justice V Kameswar Rao while refusing to grant ease. He added that a precise order would be uploaded later.
Justice V Kameswar Rao heard the plea for the postponement of the UPSC Mains 2021. The petition had been filed in Delhi High Court by candidates who had cleared the UPSC Civil Services Prelims 2021 and are now qualified to prepare for the Mains examination.
UPSC had released a notice stating that the examination would not be postponed in the interim. However, the petitioners honed out that these students have already cleared an essential leg of the examination, and putting them at risk could risk their professions and lives.
The petitioners argued that the UPSC Mains examination should be postponed considering the surge in coronavirus cases. In addition, the nation is again facing the threat of the third wave of Covid-19 and its new Omicron variant.
Therefore, with the rejection of this plea, the UPSC Mains Examination 2021 is set to take place on January 7, 8, 9, 15, and 16, 2022.
