Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil a section of the long-awaited Delhi-Mumbai Expressway...
Digital Desk: On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the groundwork for the 246-kilometre Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot route of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan's Dausa.
This portion of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is planned to reduce travel time from 5 hours to roughly 3.5 hours, particularly between the national capital and Jaipur.
The Delhi-Dausa stretch was built at a cost of about Rs 12,150 crore, and its completion would not only save travel time but will also provide a significant boost to the region's economic development.
In addition, the route will alleviate traffic on the Delhi-Jaipur highway and increase communication between Gurugram, Nuh, Palwal, and other towns.
The 246-kilometre Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot segment of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday around 3 p.m.
During the day, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will visit the traffic management centre at Sohna on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
Another inauguration ceremony has been planned at the Hilalpur toll plaza in Nuh, which will be attended by Khattar.
The Sohna-Dausa stretch is expected to open for traffic within a few days of the inauguration.
About Mumbai-Delhi Expressway
With a length of 1,386 kilometres, the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway (DME) would be India's longest motorway. It will shorten the distance between Delhi and Mumbai by half, from 1,424 km to 1,242 km, and travel time by half, from 24 hours to 12 hours.
It would connect key towns such as Kota, Indore, Jaipur, Bhopal, Vadodara, and Surat while passing through six states: Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.
The Expressway would also connect 93 PM Gati Shakti Economic Nodes, 13 Ports, 8 major airports, and 8 multi-modal logistics parks (MMLPs), as well as spurs to newly planned Greenfield airports like Jewar and Navi Mumbai.
The highway will have a catalytic effect on the development trajectory of all adjacent regions, contributing significantly to the country's economic change.
Facts to be known about the Expressway:
This is India's and Asia's first motorway with animal overpasses and underpasses. It has been designed to have the least possible impact on Ranthambore Wildlife Sanctuary.
The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway construction will use Rs 25,000 million tonnes of bitumen and will employ over 4,000 trained civil engineers, according to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
Around 12 lakh tonnes of steel will be used in the construction, which is the equivalent of 50 Howrah Bridges. The initiative will create 10 billion man-days of employment.
It's going to be an 8-lane connectivity Greenfield Expressway, although it is being built with future needs in mind. The motorway has the potential to be developed into 12 lanes.
The DME will include more than 40 interchanges to connect Kota, Indore, Jaipur, Bhopal, Vadodara, and Surat.
During the highway's construction, two world records were also set. The first award was for the most PQC laid in 24 hours, and the second was for the densest bitumen laid in 100 hours.
