    According to the IMD, a cold wave and freezing days will continue over northwest India over the next two days until Monday.

    Digital Desk: Safdarjung in Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 1.9 degrees Celsius on Sunday amid a cold wave that affected parts of northern India, according to the India Meteorological Department.

    The IMD further noted that Aya Nagar, a neighbourhood in Delhi, registered a minimum temperature of 2.6 degrees Celsius, while Lodhi Road registered 2.8 degrees Celsius and Palam 5.2 degrees Celsius.



    On Sunday morning, Delhi and the surrounding areas were shrouded in a heavy layer of fog that reduced visibility. Conditions are still extremely cold and foggy in the nation's capital and the adjacent regions.

    According to a representative of the Delhi airport, around 20 flights from the Indira Gandhi International Airport were delayed on Sunday as a result of the weather and other operational issues.



    Over 480 trains were delayed or cancelled on Sunday, according to the railways.



    According to the IMD, a cold wave and freezing days will continue over northwest India over the next two days until Monday.

    The weather service predicts that after two days starting on Tuesday, minimum temperatures in several areas of the plains of Northwest India will rise by roughly 2 degrees Celsius. Over east India, Tuesday is the most likely day with no notable change in minimum temperatures, and the following three days with an increase of roughly 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.


    According to the weather network, a minimum temperature drop of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius is quite likely over Madhya Pradesh over the next two days till Monday, with no notable change expected over the following three days until Thursday.

    "Dense to very dense fog is very likely to continue in some/many parts during the night and morning hours over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh during the next two days until Monday and in isolated pockets thereafter for subsequent three days over the region. "Due to the continuation of prevailing light winds and high moisture near the surface over Indo-Gangetic plains,", IMD said.



    According to the weather office, very ground frost conditions will prevail on January 8 and 9 in a few isolated locations of north Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Very Dense Fog is Very Likely Over Uttarakhand, North Rajasthan, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, and Tripura During the Next Three Days Until Tuesday.
