    Delhi University elections: ABVP wins 3 seats, NSUI bags vice-president post

    The National Students Union (NSUI) candidate Hitesh Gulia lost against Tushar Dedha of the ABVP for the position of DUSU President.

    Digital Desk: In the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) election, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) won three of the four central panel posts after the vote counting was completed on Saturday evening.

    The National Students Union (NSUI) candidate Hitesh Gulia lost against Tushar Dedha of the ABVP for the position of DUSU President.

    While Sachin Baisla was chosen as the Joint Secretary, Aparajita of the ABVP was chosen as the Students' Union Secretary.

    On Friday, there was a vote to elect the students union. In every DUSU poll, the ABVP and NSUI have engaged in a direct contest.

    For each of the four open positions, there were twenty-four candidates.

    EVMs were used to conduct the central panel elections at 52 colleges and departments, whereas paper ballots were used for the college union elections.

    A 42% turnout was recorded at the university. Around one lakh students were eligible to vote in the DUSU polls.

    The most recent DUSU elections took place in 2019. In the 2019 elections, the ABVP had also won three of the four seats.
