Digital Desk: Officials stated on Sunday that an assistant sub-inspector of the Delhi Police died days after being stabbed numerous times by a man he apprehended for allegedly stealing a mobile phone.
They claimed ASI Shambhu Dayal (57), a resident of Rajasthan's Sikar district, is survived by his wife, a son, and two daughters.
Last Wednesday, a woman living in a shanty in Mayapuri phase one reported to police that someone stole her husband's phone and threatened them. According to police, ASI Dayal arrived at the location where the complainant recognised the accused.

A police officer from the Mayapuri station raced to the scene and overpowered Anish. He was later arrested, and ASI Dayal was brought to the hospital, according to the official.
Ghanshyam Bansal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), stated that ASI Dayal did not let the accused depart. He fought for his life for four days before succumbing to his injuries on Sunday morning, according to the officer.
Sanjay Arora, Delhi Police Commissioner, paid tribute to Dayal at the DCP West office complex in Janakpuri and consoled the bereaved family. Dayal was also honoured by Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Sagar Preet Hooda and other senior officers.
