Digital Desk: A Delhi court on Monday extended Manish Sisodia's judicial custody by 14 days till April 3 in a case filed by the CBI in the alleged irregularities in the implementation of the city's now-scrapped liquor policy.
Earlier on Friday, a city court extended the ED's custody of the senior AAP leader till March 22, stating that physical custody of the accused appears to be necessary for his further effective interrogation.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Sisodia on February 26 in a money laundering case connected to excise policy after an eight-hour interrogation.
The ED arrested him on March 9 in Tihar Jail in connection with the CBI case involving alleged corruption in the formulation and execution of the Delhi excise policy for 2021–22.
The CBI in a statement said, Manish Sisodia was arrested because he gave evasive answers and refused to cooperate in the inquiry despite being confronted with evidence to the contrary.
On November 25, last year, the CBI submitted a charge sheet in the case, accusing businessmen Vijay Nair, Abhishek Boinpally, and five others. Sisodia, who was also in charge of the Excise department, was not named as an accused in the chargesheet.
The investigation agency claimed that the Delhi government's excise policy for granting liquor licences favoured certain dealers who reportedly paid bribes for it.
