The Centre issued an ordinance establishing authorities for the transfer and posting of Group A personnel in Delhi...
Digital Desk: The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023, which would replace an ordinance issued for handling transfers and postings of senior employees in the city government, was passed in Lok Sabha on Thursday, despite opposition parties' walkout.
Notably, Lok Sabha On Thursday, approved the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023, a government bill regulating the management of services in Delhi Capital.
The bill was passed following a nearly four-hour debate in the Lok Sabha, to which Union Home Minister Amit Shah responded.
The bill gives the Central Government the authority to create laws governing the business of the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, such as the functions, terms, and other conditions of service of officers and workers.
The ordinance establishing the authority for the transfer and posting of Group A officers in Delhi was promulgated by the Centre on May 19. The Supreme Court's decision that Delhi's elected government has jurisdiction over services except for concerns of law and order, the police, and land led to the introduction of the ordinance a few days later.
"India now is experiencing two opposing sides. The costs associated with public welfare are unimportant to them. After the measure was approved by the Lok Sabha, Amit Shah tweeted, "They have joined forces to make sure a tiny party does not leave their coalition," he added.
"The central government has always provided services. No CM has fought between 1993 and 2015, according to the Supreme Court's interpretation. There were no fights because whichever government was established, their goal was to serve the people." During the Lok Sabha debate on the bill, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated.
Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi CM, wrote on X (previously Twitter), "BJP has pledged to grant Delhi complete statehood time and time again. When elected prime minister. He made this promise in 2014. These individuals stabbed Delhi in the back today. In Future Modiji's words shouldn't be trusted."
"Today, I heard Amit Shah ji's Lok Sabha speech on the bill that depletes the people of Delhi of their rights." He does not have a single compelling reason to support the bill. He's just talking nonsense; even he knows what he's doing is wrong," Kejriwal previously posted.
Shah had already chastised Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party for opposing the ordinance. The home minister stated that the AAP was protesting because it wanted to control the vigilance and conceal the 'truth' behind Arvind Kejriwal's official residence makeover.
