Digital Desk: Cyclone Biparjoy is advancing nearer to the Gujarat coast. Meanwhile, a 3.5 magnitude tremor was detected in Gujarat's Kutch district on Wednesday evening. There was no reported property or life damage.
The tremor was detected at 5:05 p.m. at a distance of 5 kilometres West South West (WSW) of Bhachau in Kutch district, according to an update from Gandhinagar's Institute of Seismological Research.
According to the Met Department, the violent cyclone is very likely to pass Saurashtra and Kutch, as well as the neighbouring Pakistan shores, and make landfall around Jakhau Port in Kutch by June 15 evening.
The Kutch district is in a "very high risk" seismic zone, and minor earthquakes occur regularly.
Cyclone Biparjoy is anticipated to make landfall near the Jakhau coast on the evening of June 15 and then go all the way up to Rajasthan.
Around 4,500 people have been relocated from their homes to shelter homes as a precautionary safety step ahead of Cyclone Biparjoy's arrival on the Gujarat coast, according to Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Parth Talsania.
Talsania stated to ANI, "We have shifted 4,500 people from the coastal areas to various shelter houses." The shelter homes also plan to meet food and medical needs. We are actively following the issue."
According to Union Minister Parshottam Rupala, Prime Minister Narendra Modi assessed the situation and urged officials to be vigilant and take all required actions.
