Ex-Haryana CM Om Prakash Chautala appears for class 10 exam, prepared for it in Tihar jail

New Delhi: On Wednesday, former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala took his class 10 English Exam at Arya Kanya Senior Secondary School in Sirsa.

Reportedly, the 86-year-old chief of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) finished the exam within two hours.

Earlier, Mr. Chautala had taken the class 12 examination under the Haryana Open Board; however, his result was held back as he had not appeared in the mandatory class 10 English exam.

Reportedly, Mr. Chautala passed the class 10 exam from the National Institute of Open School in 2017, when he was serving a jail sentence linked with the teachers’ recruitment scam.

Mr. Chautala, son Abhay Chautala claimed that his father had taken the class 12 exams and has secured first division, but later, the institution clarified that Mr. Chautala cleared the Class 10 examination, not class 12.

Sources said Mr. Chautala prepared for the class 10 exam in the Tihar jail, Delhi, where he served his 10-year sentence from 2013. However, based on a special remission, he was released along with his son Ajay Chautala and 53 others in July, two months before the scheduled month.
