Digital Desk: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief, N Chandrababu Naidu was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Saturday early in the morning in connection with an alleged corruption case.
In the early hours of Saturday, a major commotion broke out as the investigative team reached his residence. The party claims that Chandrababu will be taken to Vijayawada by the police from Orvakal Airport.
However, Chandrababu strongly objected to the arrest as it was initiated without showing "evidence for allegations." He said that he would only assist with the law if evidence could be shown.
Naidu's counsel stated that the CID took him for a medical check-up before arresting him where high blood pressure and diabetes were detected.
He continued, "We are approaching for bail at the High Court."
Additionally, there was a minor scuffle between Naidu's supporters and police officers. Naidu has alleged that cops have no evidence, he said, "Show me where my name is. Without even the basic evidence, how can they arrest me?
To maintain the state's law and order, the State Police detained TDP leader and party chief N Chandrababu Naidu's son Nara Lokesh in the East Godavari district.
The former Chief Minister has been accused of violating sections 465, cheating, and fraudulently inducing the delivery of property. Additionally, the Prevention of Corruption Act has been invoked.
Following the arrest, Naidu wrote in a post on his official X, "No force on earth can stop me from serving Telugu people. For the past 45 years, I have selflessly served Telugu people..."
