Digital Desk: On Saturday, authorities started the third day of the demolition operation in Haryana's violent Nuh district by bulldozing unauthorised constructions on 2.6 acres of property surrounding the Nalhar Medical College.
As part of the drive, the police reported that another 15 additional temporary structures were also destroyed.
"These were unauthorised building projects. Notices to the owners of the destroyed buildings have already been delivered. A few illegal building owners also took part in the violence that occurred during the Braj Mandal religious yatra. The demolition drive will continue," Sub Divisional Magistrate Ashwani Kumar said.
According to a police official, the demolition drive started at Adbar Chowk and will continue through Tiranga Chowk.
In the violence that broke out in Muslim-dominated Nuh on Monday after a Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) procession or the Braj Mandal Yatra was attacked by mobs, six people—two home guards and a cleric—died. There had been isolated clashes in Gurugram as well.
According to Nuh District Magistrate Dhirender Khadgata, the curfew has been relaxed and residents can walk outside to buy necessities between 12 noon to 3 pm.
56 FIRs and 145 arrests have been made in connection with the VHP procession violence case, police stated. An FIR was also registered against 10 people for spreading rumours on social media, they said.
About 250 shanties on encroached government land were razed by authorities in Tauru town and other parts of the adjoining Nuh district on Friday, according to Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij, who said the actions were taken to punish those responsible for the communal riots.
