Digital Desk: In what could spark a massive controversy, a Bangladeshi opposition leader made derogatory remarks against Hindu scriptures, terming them "porn texts."

The joint convener of Bangladesh's opposition party Gono Odhikar Parishad, Tarique Rahman, claimed that Hindu scriptures are "porn texts" and do not offer any moral teachings.

Rahman is a close aide of opposition leader Nurul Haque Nur, who is aiming to overthrow Bangladesh's current Sheikh Hasina-led government in the 2024 general election.

"Scriptures of the Hindu religion do not offer any moral teaching—all the religious scriptures are porn scripts," Rahman said in a Facebook live telecast.

The video has gone viral on social media and has been widely shared by a large number of people.

Gono Odhikar Parishad, which was founded in October 2021, is mostly led by activists and youth. The terrorist organization Jamaat-e-Islami is said to be backing the party.
