Bhante Aryapal Bhikshu, founder secretary of Buddha International Welfare Mission, told ANI, "The Lord Buddha's idol is in the Mahaparinirvana Mudra, which is very important in Buddhism. Lord Buddha preached to his disciples in this posture before Mahaparinirvana. Because Bodh Gaya is the location of Lord Buddha's enlightenment, this idol is being constructed there."

He stated that the idol of Lord Buddha in this posture can be found in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, where he attained Mahaparinirvana. He also stated that the massive statue of Lord Buddha will be open to devotees in February 2023.

Bodh Gaya is an important Buddhist pilgrimage site that attracts devotees from all over the world.
