    India restores tourist visas 2 years after suspension due to Covid-19
    Digital Desk: in a recent notice issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the valid e- tourist visa which was issued for five years stay is restored to nationals of 156 countries with immediate effect.

    The tourist visas for foreign nationals were suspended for around two years due to a surge in the SARS-COVID19 cases across the globe, almost after two years of suspension of the tourist visas, the Ministry Of Home Affairs has decided to restore all categories of tourist visas for foreign nationals.

    After an improvement in the covid situations in India, The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Tuesday issued an order for further relaxation of visa and travel restrictions.

    According to the ministry, valid e-tourist visas for nationals of 156 countries have been reinstated with immediate effect. Fresh five-year e-tourist visas will be issued to these citizens.

    Regular paper tourist visas, which are valid for five years and can be obtained by citizens of all countries, have also been restored. Similarly, long-duration visas with a 10-year validity have also been reinstated for Americans and Japanese citizens.

    All these visas were suspended in March 2020, when regular international flights were stopped.
