Kamal Haasan to attend Parliamentary panel meet tomorrow on Cinematography(Amendment) Bill 2021

New Delhi: To discuss about the Cinematography (Amendment) Bill 2021, Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor led Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology called a meeting on Tuesday which will be attended by actor turned politician Kamal Hasaan and other representatives of the Producers and Directors Guild from the film Industry.

The agenda of the parliamentary panel meeting stated, "To hear the views of the individuals/stakeholders/organisations in connection with the examination of the subject 'Review of the functioning of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC)' relating to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in context of the draft 'Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill, 2021."

As per the report of ANI Kamal Hasaan will be attending the Parliamentary Standing Committee representing the actors. Moreover, the directors and the producers have to send their concerns through representatives in a written form.

However, Kamal Hasaan has shown disappointment over the Cinematography (Amendment) Bill 2021 as it will give power to the Centre to re-evaluate certification of films that has been given green signal by the Central Board of Fil Certification.

Kamal Hasaan take to twitter and wrote, “Cinema, media and the literati cannot afford to be the three iconic monkeys of India. Seeing, hearing and speaking of impending evil is the only medication against attempts to injure and debilitate democracy. Please act, voice your concern for freedom and liberty.”
