Digital Desk: Government employees in Karnataka have decided to go on strike indefinitely beginning March 1, demanding that their various demands be met. The protest will disrupt most services, including OPD in government hospitals, BBMP offices, and revenue offices.
Government employees have made three major demands: the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission report, the return to the Old Pension Scheme, and the implementation of at least 40% of fitment facilities.
If their demands are not met, over 5 lakh employees have threatened to strike.
Meanwhile, state Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai stated, "The interim report of the 7th Pay Commission will be sought and implemented, and money has been earmarked in the state budget for this purpose."
On Tuesday, CM Bommai stated that the government had accepted the government employees' demand to revise their pay after receiving the interim report. The commission will be directed to submit its interim report as soon as possible, and the government will be ready to implement it.
The CM stated that the DG and IGP have been given instructions to strengthen the city's armed reserve police.
