Digital Desk: At least 15 people were killed after a passenger bus fell off the bridge in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh. Dharam Veer Singh, SP Khargone said that at least 15 individuals were killed and many more were injured in the tragedy. Rescue operations are in progress. As per initial reports, there were around 50 people onboard. The accident happened at about 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital.
The Madhya Pradesh government announced immediate financial assistance of Rs 4 lakhs to each of the deceased's families, Rs 50,000 to each of the critically injured, and Rs 25,000 to each of those who sustained minor injuries in the Khargone bus tragedy.
The bus was on its way to Indore from Shrikhandi when it fell after breaking the railing of the Borad River bridge between Danswa and Dongargaon. The bus was overcrowded.
Locals in the area began rescue operations, and those injured in the disaster were sent to a nearby hospital.
The government has ordered a magisterial investigation into the bus accident.
