    Maharashtra government on alert amidst rising cases of Covid-19

    Maharashtra government, according to Vyas, must ensure that individuals avoid crowding, adhere to proper masks, and be vigilant for influenza-like infections.


    Digital Desk: In response to an increase in instances throughout the world, the Maharashtra government has instructed all districts to exercise caution and adhere to the Covid-19 recommendations.

    "Some nations have reported the biggest number of new Covid cases in the last 24 hours since the pandemic began two years ago." In a letter dated March 17 and sent to municipal commissioners and district collectors, Dr Pradeep Vyas, assistant chief secretary (health), wrote: "Some new variety is suspected of fueling illnesses in Israel and other nations."

    Maharashtra government, according to Vyas, must ensure that individuals avoid crowding, adhere to proper masks, and be vigilant for influenza-like infections. He also requested that vaccination programmes be accelerated in the areas. He indicated that the government was keeping a close eye on the increase in cases and would take appropriate action if warranted.




    According to Our World in Data, the global seven-day average of new cases, which had been declining since January 24 (when it reached an all-time high of 3.45 million new cases per day), peaked at 1.48 million instances (or a 57 percent decline) each day for the week ending March 2. Since then, the number has been growing for two weeks in a row, reaching 1.75 million instances per day for the week ending Wednesday, an increase of 18%.
