    Mamata urges Centre to declare a national holiday on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's birth anniversary
    Digital Desk: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee urged the Centre to declare Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's birth anniversary as a national holiday.

    Making her request, Mamata posted a Tweet through her social media handle. The tweet read, "I appeal to appeal to the Central Government that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's birth anniversary is declared a National Holiday to allow the entire Nation to pay homage to the National Leader and celebrate #DeshNayakDibas in the most befitting manner."

    Moreover, chief minister Mamata wrote on Twitter celebrating the contribution of Netaji to India's independence. She wrote, "He is an epitome of patriotism, courage, leadership, unity and brotherhood. Netaji has been and will continue to be an inspiration for generations."

    West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also informed that the state government is establishing a national University Jai Hind University, to celebrate the global leader.

    "Among some long-term endeavours to celebrate Netaji, a National University with international associations, Jai Hind University, is being set up with 100% state grant," Mamata Banerjee counted.

    Mamata correspondingly stated that a Bengal Planning Commission would be established to assist planning endeavours.

    On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homages to the iconic freedom fighter. He stated that every Indian is proud of his monumental contribution to the country.

    "Wishing all the countrymen a very Happy Parakram Diwas. My respectful tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his 125th birth anniversary. I bow to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his Jayanti. Every Indian is proud of the monumental contribution to our nation," tweeted PM Modi.

    In 2021, the Centre had announced January 23 as Parakram Diwas to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
