Manish Sisodia who is being held in CBI custody and being investigated in connection with the Delhi liquor policy has moved for bail...
Digital Desk: Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia will be summoned before a CBI court today at 2 p.m. The Aam Aadmi Party leader, who is being held in CBI custody and being investigated in connection with the Delhi liquor policy, has moved for bail.
The Delhi Police, Rapid Action Force, and Central Reserve Police Force have been stationed outside the CBI headquarters in Delhi as the agency prepares to bring Manish Sisodia before the court at the end of his 5-day remand.
Manish Sisodia stated in his bail request that holding him in detention will "serve no beneficial purpose" because all recoveries in the case have already been made.
Sisodia is accused of corruption in the formation of a liquor policy for the national capital, which was abandoned after Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena reported it to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The CBI detained Sisodia on Sunday evening for suspected corruption in the creation and implementation of the now-cancelled 2021-22 liquor policy.
Mr Sisodia filed an appeal in the Supreme Court the day after his arrest. Nevertheless, the court told him that he should have gone to the high court, therefore Mr Sisodia withdrew his application and stated that he will proceed to the trial court.
The investigation agency is anticipated to seek additional custody of Mr Sisodia today (Saturday, 4th March 2023).
