Delhi Liquor Scam: Manish Sisodia's message from jail for PM Modi, "Sir, you may annoy me by locking me up. But..."
AAP leader Manish Sisodia, imprisoned in Delhi liquor scandal, has slammed the BJP in his latest tweet from jail...

Digital Desk: Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who was arrested for alleged involvement in the Delhi liquor scandal, took a jab at the BJP Party in his recent tweet from jail. In an alleged veiled attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the top AAP politician stated, "Sir, you may annoy me by locking me up. But you won't be able to break my spirit."

The jailed AAP leader also recalled the days when Indian freedom fighters were persecuted by the British, drawing parallels between his current circumstances and India's independence war, adding that they (freedom fighters) remained committed despite challenges.

The CBI arrested Manish Sisodia on February 26 after nearly eight hours of questioning in the Delhi liquor policy case. Manish Sisodia was arrested under Indian Criminal Code Sections 120 b (criminal conspiracy), 477 A (intent to deceive), and 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The CBI stated that Manish Sisodia's replies were unsatisfactory and that he was refusing to cooperate with the inquiry. According to insiders, a few problematic sections that were not included in the earlier draught of the Delhi Liquor Policy were inserted. When questioned by the CBI, Sisodia failed to explain how certain provisions ended up in the final draught.

Based on a bureaucrat's statement, the central investigation agency also chose to arrest the AAP leader. A senior bureaucrat claimed that Manish Sisodia was instrumental in the creation of the excise policy.

A Delhi court on March 4 extended Sisodia's CBI custody until March 6. He was sentenced to 14 days in judicial imprisonment and will be held in Tihar jail until March 20.

The ED, which is conducting its investigation into the case, questioned him for six hours and recorded Sisodia's statement.

The 51-year-old was re-arrested by the ED on Thursday, barely a day before his hearing, after being quizzed for the second time. On Friday, the ED arrested him on money-laundering accusations (under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act {PMLA}) in the same case and demanded 10 days' imprisonment.

On Friday, a Delhi court ordered the ED seven days' custody of Manish Sisodia in the liquor policy case. This Monday, eight opposition leaders wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of misusing central investigating agencies to go after them.
