Digital Desk: A sixteen-year-old girl named Srushti Sudhir Jagtap has set a new record for the longest dance marathon. Srushti hails from Latur, Maharashtra, and danced for 'five days straight'.

Guinness World Records reports that "Srushti Sudhir Jagtap has broken the record for the longest dance marathon by an individual, with a time of 127 hours."

Bandana Nepal, a Nepalese dancer, set the previous record by dancing for 126 hours.

Srushti's dance marathon took place in the college's auditorium. The auditorium was "jam-packed with supporters" when she danced, according to Guinness World Records Official Adjudicator Swapnil Dangarikar.

Srushti's performance was observed by GWR Official Adjudicator Swapnil Dangarikar, who rated it as "impressive." She was allowed to take "five-minute rest breaks for every continuous hour of activity" while trying the extraordinary task, according to GWR's standards for the 'longest marathon' record. The youngster generally took her breaks at midnight, which she utilised to slumber or talk to her parents.

"There were times when she was overtired, but her parents were always by her side, spraying her face with water to keep her hydrated." "Overall, it was a very impressive performance," Swapnil added.

Srushti performed the Kathak dance. She began her dance marathon on May 29th and proceeded until the afternoon of June 3rd.

The marathon rules dictate that the participant's feet must always be moving in rhythm with the music.

It is to be mentioned that Srushti was taught Yoga Nidra, a type of guided meditation also known as 'yogic sleep,' by her grandfather, Baban Mane. She spent 15 months preparing for her record attempt. She claims that she broke the record to promote India via dancing.
