Digital Desk: In what could spark a fresh controversy, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Tuesday that Muslims have nothing to fear in India, but that they must stop their "boisterous rhetoric of supremacy."

In an interview with Organiser and Panchjanya, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chairman said Muslims should give up the myth that they are an "exalted race" and that they cannot coexist with Hindus.

"Muslims must stop their raucous rhetoric of supremacy. They (Muslims) must give up the myth that "we are of an exalted race; we once ruled over this land, and we shall rule it again; only our path is correct, everyone else is wrong; we are different, and we will remain so; we cannot live together." In reality, everyone who lives here, Hindu or communist, must abandon this logic," the RSS chief said.

He added that India has been undivided (akhand) since the beginning of recorded history, but that this unity was broken once the core Hindu sense was lost.

"Hindu is our identity, our nationality, our civilizational trait - a trait that considers everyone as ours; that takes everyone along. We never say, mine is only true and yours is false. You are right at your place, I am right at mine; why to fight, let us move together - this is Hindutva," Bhagwat said.

"The simple truth is this Hindusthan should remain Hindusthan. There is no harm to the Muslims living today in Bharat... Islam has nothing to fear," he added.

According to Bhagwat, the newfound anger among Hindus around the world is the result of an awakening in a culture that has been at war for over 1,000 years.

"As you can see, Hindu society has been engaged in conflict with foreign aggressors, influences, and conspiracies for more than a thousand years. Others have also pledged their support for this cause, including Sangh. Numerous people have discussed it. And it is due to all of these that Hindu society has become awakened. It is only natural for people involved in a battle to be aggressive," said Bhagwat.

The RSS chief also expressed his support for the LGBT community, adding that they, too, should have their own private space and that the Sangh will have to promote this viewpoint.

"People with such tendencies have always existed; for as long as humans have lived... This is biological, a way of life," he said.

"We want them to have their own private area and to feel that they, too, are a part of the society. This is such a simple problem. "We will have to propagate this viewpoint because all other approaches will be worthless," he said.
