Digital Desk: Six MBBS interns from a government medical college in Nagpur have been suspended for allegedly ragging a junior student, according to an official.
The action was initiated when a junior student in the first year of the MBBS programme at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) in Nagpur, Maharashtra, sent a video of the suspected ragging to the Central Anti-Ragging Committee, according to a college official.
The suspended students were said to be on an internship.
The alleged ragging took place six months ago. According to the college official, the complaint secretly recorded the encounter.
The central committee asked the GMC&H administration to take action after obtaining the video and the student's complaint.
As stated by the official, College Dean Dr Raj Gajbhiye immediately issued orders suspending the students' internships and ordering them to depart the hostel.
The college's anti-ragging committee also filed a complaint with Ajni police station, but no First Information Report has been filed, according to a police official.
According to him, the police have requested additional information from the college administration.
According to an official, the state medical education department has also requested that the college produce a report on the occurrence.
