The construction of the new Parliament building included massive on-site and off-site tasks...

Digital Desk: The new Parliament is getting ready for a spectacular ceremonial opening on May 28. The new structure embodies the soul of India, and each corner of the complex represents a different Indian state.

Along with the massive on-site construction activity, the new Parliament building required various off-site major construction projects as well. Materials for its construction were acquired from states such as Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, among others:

Check out where the funding for the new Parliament is coming from:

    • The sandstone was obtained from Sarmathura in Rajasthan, similar to the Red Fort and Humayun's Tomb in Delhi.

    • The Kesharia green stone, which is put inside the Lok Sabha chamber, was brought from Udaipur in Rajasthan. The red granite used in the Rajya Sabha chamber was obtained from Ajmer's Lakha, and the white marble was supplied from Ambaji in Rajasthan.

    • The teakwood was obtained in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Inside, the furniture was handcrafted in Mumbai.

    • The stone latticework that surrounds the building was transported from Rajasthan, Noida, and Uttar Pradesh.

    • Daman and Diu supplied steel false ceiling constructions.

    • Materials for the Ashoka Emblem sculpture were sourced from Aurangabad and Jaipur.

    • Both the upper and lower Houses' Ashoka Chakras were acquired from Indore.

    • The stone sculpture was done by sculptors from Abu Road in Udaipur, and the stone aggregates were supplied from Kotputali.

The event to launch the new Parliament building on Sunday will begin with an early morning havan and a multi-religious prayer, followed by Prime Minister Modi's ceremonial opening in the Lok Sabha.

Even though 20 opposition parties have vowed to boycott the event, as many as 25 parties are anticipated to attend the inauguration of the new Parliament building on Sunday.
