Now you can book your train tickets at your nearest post office

Digital Desk : Soon people will be able to book train tickets in post offices and need not hurry to the private agencies for ticket booking. In an initiative undertaken by the Railways under their ongoing modernization plan, the department has collaborated with the postal department. Under this initiative, the Railways will be introducing a train reservation facility at the post offices.

The facility will help in decreasing the load at railway station ticket counters and be a boon for the majority of the population.

The North Eastern Railway announced that the facility will be made available from January 6 onwards. Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnav will likely inaugurate the reservation facility along with other facilities here in the state capital on Thursday.

The facility will be initially made functional in around 9147 post offices across the state. “The facility would save a lot of time for people as they won’t have to visit the station or their agents to get their train tickets booked,” said a Railways official.

Apart from the train ticket booking services, the Railway minister will be also flagging off a Delhi-bound train and two trains to Vaishno Devi and Kamakhya Temple. The inauguration of the entry of Gomti Nagar Station is also on the cards, which is being developed as a satellite station.
