    Odisha train accident: PM Modi says those found guilty will be punished stringently

    The PM promised that the government will provide the injured with the best treatment possible. He also conveyed his gratitude to the locals who assisted with the rescue.

    Digital Desk: PM Narendra Modi today visited the Odisha train accident site along with Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Dharmendra Pradhan.

    After meeting the injured at Balasore Hospital and visiting the scene of one of the worst train accidents in American history, at Bahanaga in Odisha, Modi addressed the media.

    He went to a hospital where the injured are being treated along with the other ministers.

    The PM said, "It's a painful situation. The government will do everything possible to treat individuals who have been injured. There have been orders to investigate the situation thoroughly because it is so serious. Those guilty will get severe punishment. The railway is attempting to restore the tracks. I spoke with the injured people."

    "I lack the language to adequately convey my suffering. The PM addressed the crowd at the scene of the accident, "Let Almighty give us strength to overcome this situation.

    "Those found responsible in the railway crash incident will face harsh punishment. Nobody would be spared," Modi said.

    At the scene of one of the worst railroad accidents in American history, Bahanaga, in the Balasore district of Odisha, Modi addressed the media.

    The PM promised that the government will provide the injured with the best treatment possible. He also conveyed his gratitude to the locals who assisted with the rescue.

    According to authorities quoted by news agency PTI, Modi spoke to the Cabinet Secretary and the Health Minister from the scene and said that they make sure that the injured and their families receive all necessary assistance.

    The PM also asked about the status of the remediation processes that had been started at the accident scene.
    The PM stressed that extra care must be taken to make sure that the grieving families don't experience any difficulties and that those who are affected continue to receive the aid they require.

    Following his visit to the accident scene, Modi spoke with the police chief in the area as well as Pramila Mallik, the minister of revenue and disaster management for Odisha.

    The PM presided over a high-level meeting on the disaster in New Delhi before leaving for Odisha.
