Digital Desk: The first semi-high-speed regional rail service in India, "Namo Bharat," was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday in Uttar Pradesh.

The 'Namo Bharat' train connecting the Uttar Pradesh stations of Sahibabad and Duhai Depot was inaugurated by the prime minister.

This marks the launch of India's Regional Rapid Train Service (RRTS).

According to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), "Namo Bharat" is a transformational" regional development plan that aims to offer high-speed trains to the intercity community.

Additionally, PM Modi interacted with some youths while traveling on the train. "In the first phase of the RRTS, Namo Bharat trains will link several parts of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan," PM Modi stated.

He predicted that the entire 82 kilometers between Delhi and Meerut would be finished within the next 1-1.5 years.

The name of the rail service was changed from RapidX to NaMo Bharat yesterday.

The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor's 17-km priority section will begin carrying passengers tomorrow, the day after it was officially inaugurated.

There are five stations in the priority section between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot: Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, and Duhai Depot.

The comfort of passengers is a top priority on RRTS trains, which provide amenities including overhead storage, Wi-Fi, and charging ports at each seat. A press statement stated that there would also be a premium-class car with spacious seating, plenty of legroom, and coat racks.

The safety measures of this train include CCTV cameras, an emergency door-opening system, and a button for communicating with the train operator.

The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor, which will connect Delhi and Meerut with a travel time of less than an hour via the urban centers of Ghaziabad, Muradnagar, and Modinagar, is being built at a cost of more than Rs 30,000 crore, according to the PMO.
