Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate phase 1 of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham today on the first day of his Varanasi visit. The project is spread across a massive 5 lakh square feet with over forty ancient temples restored and beautified by the government.
According to reports, at around 1 pm, PM Modi will visit the Kashi Vishwanath temple and will offer prayers, after which he will inaugurate the first phase of the Kashi Vishwanath corridor built at the cost of Rs 339 crores.
Claiming that it will boost the tourism sector in the holy city, chief minister Yogi Adityanath said that this Dham will give a new global identity to Varanasi.

“Kashi Vishwanath temple will be presented as a new ‘Dham’ to the nation and world. It will be inaugurated by PM Modi tomorrow, whose vision and guidance have played a key role...This ‘Dham’ will give a new, global identity to Varanasi,” said CM Yogi Adityanath.
Taking to Twitter, PM Modi said that the Kashi Vishwanath Dham project would add to Kashi’s spiritual vibrancy.
“Tomorrow, 13th December is a landmark day. At a special program in Kashi, the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham project will be inaugurated. This will add to Kashi’s spiritual vibrancy. So I would urge you all to join tomorrow’s program,” PM Modi tweeted.
According to the PMO release, 23 buildings will be inaugurated in the phase1 of the project to provide facilities to the pilgrims visiting the Kashi Vishwanath temple.
Meanwhile, before the PM’s visit to the holy city, additional forces have been deployed on the temple premises and in public squares to ensure that everything goes smoothly.
Earlier, CM Yogi Adityanath, while targeting the opposition parties, stated that if Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, or Congress were in power instead of the BJP, then the dream of Ram mandir and Kashi Vishwanath Dham would never have been fulfilled.
