    PM Modi to unveil 9.5-ft tall Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's Statue in Pune

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Pune today to inaugurate the 12 km expanse of the 32.2 km Pune metro rail project.


    Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Pune (Maharashtra) today (March 6, 2022) to dedicate the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the grounds of the Pune Municipal Corporation. At roughly 11 a.m., the Prime Minister will unveil the statue, 1,850 kg of steel and stands approximately 9.5 feet tall.

    The Prime Minister had noted on the celebration of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's Jayanti on February 19 that his remarkable governance and attention on social welfare have inspired people for decades.

    "On his Jayanti, I bow to one of Mother India's greatest sons, the embodiment of courage, compassion, and excellent government, the extraordinary Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. His life continues to inspire millions of others. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj built a name for himself as a fearless warrior and a brilliant administrator. He excelled in every sector, from developing a strong fleet to enacting various pro-people initiatives. He will be recognised for his stand against injustice and intimidation for the rest of his life "the Prime Minister had sent out a tweet.

    PM Modi will then open the 12-kilometre portion of the whole 32.2-kilometre Pune metro rail project at roughly 11:30 a.m., after presenting the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) stated that the project would cost more than Rs 11,400 crore and attempt to build world-class connectivity for urban transportation in Pune.

    The Prime Minister officially laid the project's foundation stone on December 24, 2016.

    He will also visit Garware Metro Station to inaugurate and check the exhibition before taking the metro to Anandnagar Metro Station.

    The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for several development projects around noon. He will also lay the foundation stone for the Mula-Mutha River projects' restoration and pollution reduction. A 9-kilometre length of the river would be rejuvenated at an expenditure of more than Rs 1,080 crores.

    "Works such as river guard rails, intercept sewer system, public infrastructure, watercraft activities, and so on" will be included.

    At the cost of about Rs 1,470 crore, the Mula-Mutha River pollution prevention project would be implemented on the "One City, One Operator" principle. A series of 11 waste disposal units with a cumulative capacity of roughly 400 MLD will be built as part of the project. In addition, the Prime Minister would also unveil 140 e-buses and a new e-bus depot in Baner.

    The RK Laxman Art Gallery-Museum, built-in Balewadi, Pune, will also be inaugurated by the Prime Minister. The Museum's central feature is a miniature replica of Malgudi village that will be brought to life through audio-visual effects. In addition, the Museum will feature cartoons by cartoonist RK Laxman, according to the Prime Minister's Office.
