PM Modi virtually flags off Northeast's first Vande Bharat Express in Assam
The seating capacities of the Vande Bharat Express' executive chair cars are 52 per car, regular chair cars are 78 per car, and driving trailer coaches are 44 each coach.

Digital Desk: On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually flagged off the 18th Vande Bharat Express connecting Guwahati to New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal.

Along with the semi-high-speed train, PM Modi also gave the nation a gift by dedicating the electrified parts of New Bongaigaon-Dudhnoi-Mendipather and Guwahati-Chaparmukh. Additionally, he opened Lumding's new DEMU/MEMU (workshop for trains) shed.

    New Jalpaiguri-Guwahati Vande Bharat Express:

Guwahati and New Jalpaiguri will be connected by the first and third semi-high-speed trains in Bengal, which would travel the 411 km route in five hours and thirty minutes. On all days but Tuesday, it will be open.

Before the launch, Ashiwini Vaishnaw, the minister of railways, stated that the institution operates along the principle of "Act East."

"It is a matter of joy that PM Modi will today mark the beginning of the Vande Bharat Express in the Northeast. Act East has replaced the previous directive to "Look East," he told the news agency ANI.

The seating capacities of the Vande Bharat Express' executive chair cars are 52 per car, regular chair cars are 78 per car, and driving trailer coaches are 44 each coach.

According to a government official, the Vande Bharat train introduces modern rail travel that gives passengers from the northeast a feeling of speed and comfort similar to that of flying.

The Northeast Railways tweeted last week that, "Vande Bharat Express, the symbol of rail travel with Speed and latest amenities reached Guwahati railway station, the Gateway of the Northeast for the first time during a trial run conducted today from New Jalpaiguri."
