Pakistani terrorist groups plan attacks on August 15; security personnel on high alert

Digital Desk: Pakistan-based terror outfits Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) are planning to attack security places and public places like train stations on August 15, reports stated. According to the intelligence reports given to the security forces, Delhi is a "prime target" for these terrorist groups. Security personnel have been placed on high alert in the city as a result of various intelligence reports concerning terrorist attack plans in Delhi during the Independence Day celebrations.

In addition to receiving information from foreign organizations, intelligence agencies discovered that terrorist groups may disrupt national security within the nation.

Intelligence agencies in February of this year discovered that terrorist organizations with a base in Pakistan were attempting to target delicate public spaces in and around Delhi.

According to another report, a LeT operative headquartered in Pakistan directed his associates to do a reconnaissance of several areas in Delhi in May, including prominent roads, railway stations, Delhi Police offices, and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) headquarters.

The intelligence information revealed that a Kashmiri activist from Pakistan-occupied territory alleged in a video message that JeM had been preparing to attack Indian cities, including Delhi.

The agency noted that "Pak-based terrorists and global jihadi outfits" are the main threats to the Independence Day celebrations.

Along with cross-border organizations, intelligence authorities discovered that domestic terror groups, Sikh militants, Left Wing Extremists (LWES), and Northeast insurgent groups could disrupt security.

    Security beefed up in Delhi

The Delhi Police have increased patrols and vehicle checks throughout the city as well as put in place strict security measures. At the Mughal-era Red Fort, 1,000 facial recognition cameras, anti-drone systems, and other surveillance tools have been installed in addition to 10,000 police officers who are on duty.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation on August 15 from the Red Fort.
