Pm Modi to chair Covid-19 review meet today

Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi (PM Modi) will chair a review meeting today concerning the increasing threat of Covid-19 in the nation. The review meeting is scheduled to take place at 4.30 pm on Sunday.

PM Modi has called the covid-19 review meeting amid a massive surge in the national coronavirus rate. There are 1,59,632 new cases recorded only in the last 24 hours.

The current positive caseload stood at 5,90,611, while the day-to-day positivity touched 10.21 percent.

The new Omicron variant is said to have the fastest transmission than any other coronavirus variant. As a result, Omicron is driving the current surge in positive cases in India and worldwide. As per reports, 3,623 cases have been detected in India across 27 states.

During the earlier pandemic review meet, PM Modi had asked senior officials to hold a high level of surveillance.

“Given the new variant (Omicron), we should be ‘satark’ (alert) and ‘saavdhan’ (take precaution),” the PM had stated while highlighting the necessity for ongoing adherence to Covid-appropriate behavior last year.

Moreover, dates have been announced for a seven-phased election in the five states. The states to hold election include Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa, and Manipur. Can these elections become a hotspot for the surge of the third wave of the pandemic in India?
