    Digital Desk: Politicians are best known for their multitudes of promises and freebies they announce ahead of an upcoming polls. Continuing the trend, Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu on Monday promised Rs 2,000 per month to every woman if his party is voted to power.





    Navjot Singh Sidhu is gearing up for the upcoming state assembly elections and is trying all possible ways to lure voters.





    Among his promises, Sidhu also announced eight free cooking gas cylinders to homemakers on yearly basis.





    The promise list also includes free two-wheelers to girls taking admission in colleges for further studies, Rs 20,000 to those passing High School (Class 12), Rs 15,000 to the ones passing Class 10 and Rs 5,000 passing fifth grade.

    Giving a tough competition to Aam Aadmi Party’s national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvid Kejriwal, who too announced slews of freebies, Navjot Singh Sidhu’s promises outdo of those mentioned by AAP.





    In its poll promise, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal promised Rs 1,000 to all women homemakers of Punjab, free electricity for upto 300 units if his party Is voted to power in the poll-bound states that includes Punjab, Goa, Uttarkhand and Uttar Pradesh.





    Sidhu made the announcement during a poll rally in Punjab’s Barnala district.





    Along with the announcement, Sidhu promised to work for the welfare of the women folk of his state and that his party will undertake all necessary steps to empower women.

    “Our government promises Rs 2,000 per month and free eight LPG cylinders to every woman homemaker of our state,” announced Navjot Singh.





    He further announced, “All girls, after passing fifth grade will be given Rs 5,000”.
