Digital Desk: The Chief Justice of India announces that the Supreme Court of India will come under the National Judicial Data Grid platform, which allows for the tracking of case-pending status. CJI DY Chandrachud says it will bring transparency and accountability.
CJI DY Chandrachud says, "It is a historic day. It is a unique platform that was developed by the NIC and the in-house team of the Supreme Court. Now, at the click of a button, you can see real-time information on the pendency of cases, year-wise, the total pendency of registered and unregistered cases, and the number of cases decided qoram-wise."
The service currently shows data up to the high court level. According to the CJI, uploading data to the NJDG will guarantee transparency and accountability in the judicial domain, reported PTI.
The NJDG is an online platform developed as part of the eCourts Project that contains orders, judgments, and case information from 18,735 district and subordinate courts and high courts. District and taluka courts that are connected update data almost instantly.
It provides information about the judicial procedures and rulings of all of the nation's computerized district and subordinate courts. All high courts have joined the NJDG via web services, providing easy access to the litigant public.
