Ajit Pawar and eight other NCP leaders joined the Maharashtra Shiv Sena and BJP coalition government earlier this month…
Digital desk: In a major development, Ajit Pawar has received the support of all seven of the Nationalist Congress Party's (NCP) MLAs in Nagaland, which is an important setback for his uncle Sharad Pawar.
The seven NCP MLAs of the northeastern stated that all party members working at the Nagaland NCP headquarters will also support Ajit Pawar, said in a statement released on Thursday.
Ajit Pawar and eight other NCP leaders joined the Maharashtra Shiv Sena and BJP coalition government earlier this month, which is headed by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The Sharad Pawar-founded NCP was split by the move.
The strategic move made by Ajit Pawar is comparable to how Shinde split from the Shiv Sena when Uddhav Thackeray was the Chief Minister. Shiv Sena was eventually under Shinde's leadership.
The Shiv Sena broke off its alliance with the BJP in 2019 and joined forces with the Congress and NCP to create the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra.
After Shinde abandoned his party and teamed up with the BJP to form a new government, the government collapsed last year.
