Shraddha Walker murder re-run in Mumbai: Woman killed and chopped into pieces, live-in-partner held

Digital Desk: The Maharashtra police detained a man from Mumbai on suspicion of killing and dismembering his live-in partner on Wednesday. Manoj Sahani, who has lived with the woman in a rented flat for more than three years, was named as the suspect.

Police seized the 56-year-old man on Wednesday night in connection with the murder and dismemberment of his live-in spouse, according to police officials who spoke to ANI.

According to Indian Express, the deceased woman has been identified as Saraswati Vaidya, an orphan.

The two had shared a rented flat in the Akashganga building on Mira Road for many years. The Nayanagar police received a report of a bad smell coming from the couple's flat on Wednesday. When the police arrived later, they discovered a human body in pieces inside the flat.  The body was dismembered, and bits were scattered about the apartment. According to the preliminary inquiry into the matter, the woman was murdered horribly.

"Police in the Mira Road neighbourhood discovered a woman's body that had been cut into pieces. Here a couple was living in a live-in relationship.  According to an initial inquiry, the woman was hacked to death. Additional investigations are being conducted, according to Mumbai's Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Jayant Bajbale.

On June 4, the accused carried out the horrifying murder, using two cutters to dismember the victim's body. According to the ACP of Mira-Bhayander Vasai Virar police, one of the cutters was electric. He added that the police suspect the murderer of dispersing the body parts in several locations as 

The DCP of the Mumbai Police further stated that the police inquiry to find more evidence is underway.

When Indian woman Shraddha Walker, 27, was allegedly killed by her live-in partner Aaftab Amin Poonawala in Delhi on May 18, 2022, a similar case months ago caught the attention of the national media.
