Digital Desk: Congress leader Sonia Gandhi went boating in Nigeen Lake after reaching Srinagar on Saturday. She will be joining Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, who began a three-day personal visit to Srinagar on Friday.

"Rahul ji arrived in Srinagar on Friday evening from his week-long tour of Ladakh," a senior Congress leader stated. The Wayanad MP will be joined by his mother on Saturday, he said.

The party leader stated that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and her husband Robert Vadra are also expected to join the duo.

Rahul is residing on a houseboat in Nigeen Lake, and the family will probably spend Saturday night at a hotel in the Rainawari area. The Gandhi family has old memories of the hotel, the senior party official continued.

They will probably travel to Gulmarg after two nights, he added.
However, the leader said no political engagements are scheduled for the family during the visit.

"It is a completely personal, family visit, and no political engagement or meeting with any party leaders will happen," he further stated.

Rahul arrived in Srinagar on Friday morning after speaking at a public gathering in Kargil, where he had spent the previous week.

Rahul reached Ladakh on August 17, his first trip there after the area received UT statehood in August 2019 after being separated from Jammu and Kashmir. Along with becoming a Union Territory, the former state of Jammu and Kashmir had its special status under Article 370 repealed.

Before arriving in Kargil on Thursday, Rahul traveled with his motorcycle over almost every well-known location, including the Pangong Lake, Nubra Valley, Khardungla Top, Lamayuru, and Zanskar.

According to an earlier statement made by another Congress leader, Rahul will arrive in Sonamarg in the Ganderbal district of central Kashmir from Kargil in the afternoon before traveling to Srinagar, where he will spend the next two nights on a houseboat and in a hotel.
