Amul's iconic 'Utterly Butterly' girl died on Tuesday evening in Mumbai.
DaCunha, a doyen of the Indian advertising industry who has been closely associated with Amul since the 1960s, he worked with his art director Eustace Fernandes to create the Amul 'Utterly Butterly' Girl. In 2016, the campaign marked its 50th anniversary.
DaCunha was the one who opted out of the "boring image" that was once connected with the butter brand. According to DaCunha, the concept was to have a girl that would "walk her way in the Indian kitchen and the housewife's heart."
For 50 years, the Amul girl has been popular, with a buttered toast in one hand and a quick one-liner on her lips.
