Digital Desk: With severe rains inundating Himachal Pradesh, one couple and a youth from Assam's Sonari went missing in the northern Indian state, according to reports.

Reportedly, the couple has been identified as Debashish Rajkhowa and Sikha Phukan of Sonari's Parbatipur area, and the youth has been identified as Santanu Gogoi.

The couple's family members contacted the Himachal Pradesh Police after they were unable to contact them. Later, the police informed them that the couple was safe; however, family members are still concerned because the police hadn't been able to contact the couple.

It should be noted that the northern section of India is experiencing flash floods as a result of severe rains, with Himachal Pradesh being the most affected among the other states.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued "red" and "orange" alerts for numerous districts in Himachal Pradesh on Monday, indicating that there would be no immediate relief for the hill state's residents.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stated that the state has not experienced such heavy rains in the last 50 years.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with the chief minister about the current circumstances, assuring him of the Centre's complete assistance.
