Digital Desk: Following a battle that broke out between security personnel and terrorists on Wednesday in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag area, three members of the Indian Army—a Colonel, a Major, and a Deputy Superintendent of Police have lost their lives.
A battle between security personnel and militants hiding in the Kokernag region of the Anantnag district occurred, a police official earlier in the day said news agency PTI.
Three people were killed in the line of duty: the Colonel commanding the Army Rajasthan Rifles unit, the Major in charge of the Company, and the DSP of the J&K Police.
The encounter between security forces and terrorists is still underway.
"Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish, and deputy superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Humayun Bhat were critically injured in the gunfight and later died," Army authorities said.

The Colonel was shot and instantly died, while the other two officials were wounded. After being evacuated to a hospital in Srinagar, they passed away from their wounds. Additionally, according to sources, the terrorists were affiliated with "The Resistance Front," a Lashkar front.
"A Major and an Indian Army Colonel who was in charge of a unit of the Rashtriya Rifles were killed in an encounter with terrorists in Anantnag, Kashmir. The officer was in charge of 19 RR," Indian Army officials said.
In the clash, a police officer from Jammu and Kashmir also perished.

In the meantime, two terrorists were defeated by security forces in an encounter that started in Rajouri's Narla neighbourhood in Jammu and Kashmir.
On September 4, a terrorist was shot and killed by security personnel in the Reasi district of Jammu & Kashmir. During the gunfire battle, a police officer also sustained injuries.
Security personnel launched the operation after receiving information about the location of two suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists.
