Former Under-19 Nepal cricket team captain Sandeep Lamichhane captained them in the 2016 Asia Cup.

Digital Desk: A 17-year-old girl in Nepal
has accused Sandeep Lamichhane, the captain of the Nepali cricket team, of
rape. In the meantime, Nepali police have opened an investigation into the
player following a young girl's rape complaint.

In
this regard, Kathmandu police have opened a case. Lamichhane is at now playing
in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). He has not yet responded to the
significant accusations made against him.

According
to a report in the Nepali news outlet "Online Khabar," Bharat Bahadur
Bohora, the head of the Kathmandu District Police Range, said the police circle
in the city's Gaushala submitted the complaint on Wednesday.

"We take such situations very seriously.
Police have opened an inquiry and forced the alleged rape survivor to undergo a
health examination "Rabindra Prasad Dhanuk, the head of the Kathmandu
Valley Police, was also quoted in the story.

Leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane was chosen to
succeed Gyanendra Malla as captain of Nepal in 2021.
