Digital Desk: An accused in the Sidhu Moose Wala murder case, said to be
a close aide of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, is said to have escaped from the
Mansa Police's Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) unit in Punjab. Deepak Tinu,
Bishnoi's aide, has escaped, according to a senior Punjab police officer who
spoke on the condition of anonymity. On July 4, the Punjab police took him from
the Tihar jail in Delhi on transit remand in the Moose Wala murder case. Deepak
had to be interrogated about the murder.
In May, popular singer
and politician Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead near his home, sparking a massive
investigation. Following his death, the Punjab government was heavily chastised
for reducing his security cover. More than 30 people have been identified as
suspects in the ongoing investigation, with key links to Bishnoi. So far, 24
people have been arrested.
Investigators recently
revealed that two members of gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria's gang, who were
recently arrested, came close to assassinating the Punjabi singer at least three
times in February this year but were forced to retreat after seeing the massive
security cover surrounding him.
According to the police, after Mani Rayya and Mandeep Singh
alias Toofan failed to kill Moose Wala, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang devised an even
more elaborate plan to murder him. They built two more modules of six shooters
and outfitted them with sophisticated weapons such as AK-47s and grenades.
Previously, in September, the police revealed that one of
the accused in the Moose Wala case had conducted a reconnaissance in Mumbai in
order to target Bollywood actor Salman Khan.
