Mumbai : A 55 year old man lost control on his patience and out of fit of rage killed his wife who constantly taunted him for not fathering a child. The victim identified as Umarani Gupta was found murdered in a pool of blood at her residence in Kopari Naka, Virar, Mumbai.
As per police reports, the victim was found in a poll of blood with multiple stab and injury marks on her body. Initially the husband went to report about the murder by faking it as a murder committed by thieves who broke into their house with the bedroom cupboards open.
The husband identified as Shyam Gupta said that cash and jewellery amounting to Rs 3 lakh was missing. The police had initially filed the case under section 302 (Punishment for murder), 394 (causing hurt in committing robbery) and 449 (House-trespass in order to commit offence) of IPC was registered in the Virar police station against unknown accused they were investigating the case. On further investigation, the Virar police cross-examined Shyam who then later confessed to the crime.
In his confession he said that on the day of the incident he attacked his wife after she refused to pay some amount for the house EMI. Later the wife taunted the husband of not fathering any child which riled the entire episode thus Shyam lost his control and killed his wife by beating her continuously with grinding stone, iron rod and flower pot.
