Mumbai/Guwahati: Mumbai Police has arrested one man identified as Haneef Sharakali Uddin for running a brothel in Marine Lines. Haneef who hails from Assam’s Nagaon district has been carrying out the prostitution racket for quite a long time in South Mumbai’s most prominent location.
The police arrested Haneef acting on a tip off, thereafter raiding a flat at Jorawar Bhawan in Mumbai. The police team also rescued two girls who were forced into prostitution by Haneef. The accused was inside the flat at the time of the raid.
Initially the police had sent a decoy, who managed to befriend Uddin, and confirmed the functioning of the brothel at the flat. As per reports, the girls were trafficked from Assam and Uddin was the caretaker of the flat while the owner is in Malaysia.
Mumbai Police is currently trying to track down the owner of the flat where the prostitution racket was taking place without anyone’s notice.
