New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the fourteen MPs from the state of Assam on June 17th, 2019 took oath at the inaugural session of the 17th Lok Sabha in New Delhi.
The seven time BJP MP from Tikamgarh, Virendra Kumar administered the oath to all the MPs here acting as the protem speaker of the 17th Lok Sabha.
The Assam MPs took their oath in Assamese language donning the Axomiya gamusa. Among the 14 MPs, nine are from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) – Rameswar Teli, Pradan Barua, Pallab Lochan Das, queen Oja, Dilip Saikia, Kripanath Malla, Tapan Gogoi, Rajdeep Rpy, Horen Singh Bey, three from the Congress – Pradyut Bordoloi. Gaurav Gogoi, Abdul Khaleque and one each from All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) – Badruddin Ajmal and Independent (IND) – Naba Sarania.
Prime Minister’s oath was followed by other senior MPs – Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Road, Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari.
As per reports, the first session of the 17th Lok Sabha will continue till June 26th, 2019 and it will have 30 sittings. The House will start a business after the Motion of Thanks by the President Ram Nath Kovind and the Union Budget will be presented on July 5th, 2019 by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
