Chhattisgarh : Four Border Security (BSF) Jawans including one from Assam were killed and two others injured in an encounter with Naxals in Chhatisgarh’s Kanker district. The deceased from Assam has been identified as Assistant sub-inspector Bipul Borah. He hailed from Gaurisagar, Dikhowmukh in Sivasagar district of Assam.

As per reports, the incident took place at around 12 pm on April 4th, 2019 near Mahla village in Kanker district when a joint team of BSF’s 114th battalion and the District Force launched a search operation and while advancing a Naxal group fired at the troop and a gun battle took place leaving four dead and two injured.

Assistant commandant Gopu Ram and inspector Gopal Ram were injured in the exchange of fire. Apart from Borah, the other three constables who martyred in the gunfight are Ramkrishnan, Someshwar and Ishrar Khan. The encounter comes a week before polling for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections is held in the state.
