External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar described Operation Ganga as the most successful operation to bring back medical students and other Indian nationals trapped in Ukraine.
Digital Desk: Responding to the discussion held in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday on the Russia-Ukraine crisis, the External Affairs Minister again clarified India's stand on Russia - Ukraine war.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said that India wants to end the Russia-Ukraine war. However, Jaishankar also said that dialogue and diplomacy at all levels, including the top-level, between Russia and Ukraine, is the best solution to this war.
Jaishankar said that India wants a solution to this crisis at the earliest and favors maintaining peace; adding to his statement, he said that this problem could be found only through diplomatic discussion or talks, even if these talks are at the top level.
The Operation Ganga, which was carried out to bring back the medical students and other Indian citizens stuck in Ukraine, was described by the External Affairs Minister as the most successful and biggest operation till date. Responding to the opposition, Jaishankar said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself took the initiative to bring back the Indian students.
Jaishankar said that the Prime Minister spoke to both Russian President Putin and Ukraine's President Zelenskyy to open the way for the repatriation of students stranded in eastern parts of Ukraine, such as Sumy and Kharkiv, leading to a peace talk on both sides for a few hours could be implemented.
The future of medical students who returned from Ukraine hangs in the midway. The External Affairs Minister said that the central government is in touch with countries like Hungary, Romania, Poland, and Slovakia to complete their further studies.
