BJP leader Rajnath Singh asks the Border Roads Organisation to improve border infrastructure

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh directed the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to improve its competence and strive to construct border infrastructure at a quicker rate.

Digital Desk: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has urged the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to improve its competence by making better use of technology and upgrading border infrastructure more quickly. On Saturday, he spoke to all ranks of the BRO at the organization's 63rd raising day.

"In recent years, China's involvement in the Northern sector has grown. They could access several locations fast due to their expertise in hilly buildings. Rajnath Singh stated, "The BRO must continue to work on enhancing their capabilities while fully utilizing technology."

He further stated that the government is working hard to give the BRO the necessary help in this regard. He also noted BRO's recent decision of a 40 per cent increase the capital budget to Rs 3,500 crore for the fiscal year 2022-23. He promised the BRO not just financial but all-out assistance in this endeavour.

Rajnath Singh praised the BRO for creating new doors of security and prosperity for the whole country, not only in the areas working on projects. BRO, he said, is more than simply a construction company; it is a brilliant example of togetherness, discipline, loyalty, and duty.

The defence minister also stated that the projects completed by the BRO had boosted the operational readiness of the military forces and the socio-economic situations of people living in remote locations, highlighting the importance of roads, bridges, and tunnels in a nation's growth.

"Infrastructure development in border areas is an indicator of the Government's unwavering commitment to building a strong, secure and self-reliant 'New India' as envisioned by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi," Rajnath Singh said.

Border areas have arisen as new centres of growth, according to Rajnath Singh, and regions like the North-East are flourishing and serve as a gateway for the country's overall advancement. He said that the development of these areas is critical for India's international success since the northeast region connects India to South Asia and Southeast Asia.

He also praised the BRO for using its 75 cafes and tourist webpage to promote tourism in remote places. These activities, he continued, are symptomatic of the organization's ever-increasing expansion.

Defence Minister took the initiative -

Rajnath Singh unveiled two software products created by Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-informatics: BRO Resource Management System and BRO Budget Management System (BISAG-N). The softwares will automate resource distribution and use and the BRO's budget.

He also participated in the 'BRO@63 Multi-Dimensional Expedition' held in the lead-up to the 63rd Raising Day. On April 26, Uttarakhand Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh launched the trip from Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

The 'BRO@63-All Women Electric Vehicle Rally' was also launched by Rajnath Singh. A team of ten female officers from all ranks of the BRO will drive 750 kilometres through the National Capital Region, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand in electric automobiles. The project is part of a series of activities commemorating the 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.'

Rajnath Singh also praised personnel from Project Himank in Ladakh and the 13 Border Roads Task Force in Jammu and Kashmir for their outstanding performance in the previous year.

Ajay Bhatt, Minister of State, Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande, Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar, Director General Border Roads (DGBR) Lt Gen Rajeev Chaudhry, and other top BRO officials were also in attendance. A handful of BRO employees digitally attended the event.
