Check here who is Sumnima Udas; how Rahul Gandhi is related to her

Why does Rahul have ties only with those who challenge India's territorial integrity, from China to Nepal?

Digital Desk: The alleged video of Rahul Gandhi at a Nepalese nightclub surfaced on social media on May 3 during Eid clashes in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

The video was shared on Twitter by BJP leaders who slammed Rahul for allegedly inciting communal violence in Congress-ruled Rajasthan and having ties to those who are antithetical to India's sovereignty and integrity.

BJP IT convener Amit Malviya tweeted, "Rahul Gandhi was allegedly at the wedding of Sumnima Udas, a Nepali diplomat's daughter, who actively supports Nepal's claim over regions of India's Uttarakhand.

He questioned, "Why does Rahul have ties only with those who challenge India's territorial integrity, from China to Nepal?"

Who really is Sumnima Udas, whose wedding is Rahul Gandhi attending?

Well, Sumnima is a former CNN correspondent based in Delhi. According to her LinkedIn profile, she covered politics, economics, social issues, and the environment for CNN from 2001 to 2017. In addition, she is the founder and executive director of The Lumbini Museum.

She has a journalism degree from Lee University and a master's degree from Oxford. In 2014, she was named Journalist of the Year for reporting gender issues.

As per reports, Bhim Udas, her father, was a former ambassador to Myanmar. "Rahul Gandhi was invited to Sumnima's wedding." The wedding will take place on Tuesday, and the reception will occur on Thursday."

On May 3, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala took to Twitter to question Rahul's leadership, writing, "Rajasthan burns, but Rahul Gandhi prefers partying over ." He tweets about various Indian crises but prefers bars to 'Bharat ke log.' Rahul is a 'party time' politician, not a full-time politician. It's not the first time; recall his party mode after November 26."

The state news agency lists Rahul Gandhi's reason for visiting the country. However, there was no video context in it.

According to the sources, Gandhi and his friends stay at the Kathmandu Marriott Hotel in Naxal. "Gandhi is in Kathmandu for the wedding of his Nepali friend Sumnima Udas," the daily reported; they further said, "Gandhi (Rahul) arrived in Kathmandu at 4:40 p.m. on a Vistara Airlines flight." Two security sources confirmed that three others accompanied him at Kathmandu airport.

At a press conference yesterday, Congress General Secretary Randeep Surjewala stated that attending a wedding is not a crime, "Rahul had gone to attend a wedding in Nepal… Attending a wedding is a matter of our culture and civilisation. It is still not a crime to do so."
